Bradford Textile Society was founded in December 1893 and is the oldest Textile Society in Great Britain. It was founded by a small group of enthusiasts with the aim of providing a forum for past and present students of Bradford Technical College. In spite of its humble beginnings, by 1920, it was to become the largest and most influential organisation of its kind in the world.
Our HistoryThe Society has continued to flourish into the 21st century and whilst the world has changed hugely, the objectives of the Society remain the same – to help and encourage students and professionals in the textile industry through an exciting lecture programme and networking events.
Upcoming EventsA key event in the Society’s calendar is the Annual Design Competition open to UK students and independent designers.
We are indebted to our Sponsors for their generosity and ongoing support in promoting emerging textile talent.
Our CompetitionsThe 4 2025 Travel Prize winners, sponsored by the CIWMT., enjoyed an expenses paid visit to Paris for the February Premiere Vision show.
