Textile Institute Yorkshire: PP Townend Memorial Lecture. Tony Hodges
‘Weaving, Washing and Wealth-making’
In this entertaining talk, Tony Hodges, a successful Yorkshire businessman, will relate how he stumbled across simple life changing (for him) lessons while working for the Wool Industry Training Board in the 1970s. When he started his own company in 1996, these lessons became a key ingredient in its growth. Today he has an 80 person team with offices in the U.S., Australia and the UK working for the world’s largest companies. He will talk about how some of those early lessons have enabled his firm to become a market leader in communicating complex messages to 22m people around the globe. He will include clips from videos he has produced during his career featuring the Henry Wheatley mill at Mirfield, John McEnroe and putting ‘man into space’. The key message in his talk will be that none of us should ever stop learning but always be looking for new opportunities to express our creativity.
